Educator

I am extremely passionate about teaching and training the next generation of performers, inspiring them to learn about, love and respect the art form that has made my life so rewarding.

I have a strong technical dance background. My early ballet training was with a certified Royal Academy of Dance teacher. I was tested each year by international RAD examiners, receiving high honors. In addition, I studied with historical jazz masters Matt Mattox, Gus Giordano, Luigi and many of their protégés. My education at the Tisch School of the Arts deepened and broadened my training, introducing me to the world of modern dance. There, I was taught to think beyond the rigidity of classical training, which helped to spark my creativity and inspire me as a dancer, choreographer and teacher.

I have always made my living as a dancer - by performing, choreographing, and/or teaching dance. However, about two years ago, I realized that it was the right time to pursue a degree that would allow me to achieve my dream of becoming a professor of theatre and dance. After graduating from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance, I spent 18 years dancing professionally, traveling the world, doing what I love, and living my childhood dream. I'm so grateful to have had those experiences and wouldn't trade them for the world, for they've shaped me as an artist and teacher.

Teaching dance is a true passion for me. I have been teaching dance classes since I was 15 years old. Throughout college and the years that followed, I taught extensively at private dance studios, which allowed me the freedom to perform regionally, in New York, and on National and European tours, knowing that I would have a job and students eager to study when I returned. Looking back, I realize how fortunate I was to be able to support myself doing what I loved, inspiring younger dancers and at the same time, gaining valuable experience as a teacher.
